Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the basis for their faith and hold certain fundamental beliefs in harmony with the teachings of the Holy Scriptures.
First Port St. Lucie Seventh Day Adventist Church found its genesis in a branch sabbath school started by the Jensen Beach SDA Church. In 1992, these meetings developed into Sabbath afternoon cottage meetings in the homes of various elders and founding members. By 1993, the group of approximately twelve individuals began meeting for worship at 1952 Village Green Drive with assistance from Pastor Lindo, then from Pastor Dennis, both from the West Palm Beach church.
Under the leadership of Pastor Dennis and Elders Brown and Campbell, the group began raising funds with the goal of building their own church home in Port St Lucie. With this goal in mind, they began making pledges of funding, and a group of women calling themselves “The Principal Women” organized with the pledge of raising the funds necessary to secure a property on which to build the church. Soon the group was able to purchase a property on Zenith Drive in the Torino area.
The group grew through active ministry to twenty-one members and soon applied to the South Eastern Conference for affiliation. The application was approved and the First Port St Lucie Seventh Day Adventist Church was formed in 1994 with Keith Dennis as their first pastor. The church soon outgrew its location on Village Green Drive. They then sought accommodation from Grace Emmanuel Church on Hoffman Road in Village Green, which graciously allowed them the use of their church. They began holding services there in April 1996.
As the church continued to grow, the church became even more determined to have their own building for worship within the area where most of their members lived. Soon, they located a property at 320 Tulip Boulevard. In April 1998, the church voted in Business meeting to purchase that property. The property in Torino had been paid for, so they were able to sell it to purchase of the lot on Tulip Boulevard. With the assistance of a loan from the Southern Union revolving fund, the church, now seventy in number, was finally able to begin construction of their church home. They joyfully broke ground for construction on October 10, 2000.
By 2013, the church finally celebrated the full payment of its mortgage. Starting from a small nucleus of 12 members, our church is now 478 members strong. We celebrate the vision and strong leadership of our pioneers who saw the need for a house of worship in this area of Port St Lucie. They prayed, saved, sacrificed, and worked untiringly to make this dream a reality. We are now on Tulip Boulevard, a light in our community and we are confident that God, who began a good work in this church, will carry it forward until His glorious APPEARANCE.
